Humpty was pushed?
Our school has had a Humpty Dumpty mural on a classroom wall for many years now. It’s amazing how fast Humpty falls again when the three-year cyclic plan for K-2 comes around again.
As is traditional, the “Chicks R Us” and their incubator turned up this week. Only one egg to hatch now!
Meanwhile, the students suggested that a PowerPoint show about the Humpty Dumpty nursery rhyme, made three years ago, needed one more image to make it more interesting. So, this year, Easter egg Humpty shows some leakage after falling off his wall:

Last term’s Stage 1 book rappers are doing an extension activity with me during our Literacy time: investigating claymation (stop motion) video presentations using a kit from the local post office, “Make your own haunted house movie” by Nancy Hall (Hinkler Books, 2010). We have already storyboarded our Halloween story, but have now checked out a few claymation fable videos on Youtube:

Early Stage 1 and Stage 1 students are studying the season of spring – and life cycles. These Youtube video clips (below) will help with the trickier concepts (frog attributes, such as their sticky tongue, etc) not conveyed visually in the big book, “Tadpole diary” by David Drew.

The book rappers in 2B at Caddies Creek PS created this digital story of “The terrific teacher and the twenty-two kids” for the Book Week 2011 book rap on Photo Peach. It is inspired by the shortlisted picture book, “The tall man and the twelve babies” by Tom Niland Champion, Kilmeny Niland & Deborah Niland.
Meanwhile, Class 2H at Caddies Creek PS created this great digital story of “Snappy the crocodile” for the Book Week 2011 book rap on Photo Peach. It is inspired by the popular picture book, “Edward the emu” by Sheila Knowles & Rod Clement.

Bankstown PS’s Book Rap Heroes (Year 3) created their amazing digital story, “The secret forest hero”, on Storybird. Click HERE to view their online eBook made for the Book Week 2011 book rap.
The book rappers at Kingswood PS also created a digital story, “My teacher’s gorilla”, for the Book Week 2011 book rap. Featuring a huge stuffed gorilla toy and other library friends, it was compiled in Photo Peach. They based it upon the CBCA-nominated picture book, “My uncle’s donkey” by Tohby Riddle.
